Panel 1
A weary traveller reaches the gate, holding his coat closed and bracing himself against the timber.

Panel 2
His hand shifts over a dark bloodstain on the cloth. The wound itself is not exposed.

Panel 3
Vara leaves the challenge cord on the wall and moves toward him. Mali and Neri watch the recognition between them.
Courier: I couldn't reach the upper road.
Panel 4
Vara questions the traveller. His troubled gaze moves past her toward the yard.
